Watering mushrooms

Here is an update for those who decided to start growing their own mushrooms after our blog post on the subject (see http://foodgardengroup.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/growing-mushrooms.html ).

Rosalie believes she has discovered a better method of giving her mushrooms just the right amount of water!  She no longer uses a watering can.  She uses a 5-litre pump action spray unit she bought at K and D for $10 (see photo below).

She finds that the 'wand applicator' is better for getting the water where it is needed. Also, the spray of water is better than the shower from the watering can, as that delivers too much water.  Using the new method Rosalie sprays her mushrooms once a day.

One word of warning:  if you use a sprayer that has previously been used for other purposes, make absolutely sure it has not been used to spray poisons, otherwise your mushrooms will not at all be happy with this change.
